Tips For Your Trip

Bank of Hopetown1. Make sure you have an updated passport! Passports are now required to enter the Bahamas. A rush passport can be delivered within 2 weeks, but the cost will double. Plan ahead & get your passport 6 weeks prior to your trip!

2. Plan your flight & ferry connections wisely. DON"T MISS THE LAST FERRY TO HOPETOWN. If you do, you will have to charter a boat from Marsh Harbour to Hopetown & it will cost you several hundred dollars!

3. Bring plenty of cash. This is a quiet island and the bank on the island, First Caribbean, is only open on Tuesdays between 10am - 2pm. It's located right near the ferry dock. They won't cash checks. If you run out of cash, you will need to take the ferry back to Marsh Harbour.

4. Pack a carry-on of food. Food on the island is about triple the cost of food in the states. You can pack a cooler & check it with your airline. Verify with your airline their requirements regarding carry-on coolers.

Hanging Clothes5. Pack your clothes wisely. The dress code on the island is totally casual. Flip flops, a swim suit and a beach cover up is the general uniform! Keep it simple.

6. Bring plenty of sunscreen! The sun is blazing hot and when on a boat, there's not much shade.

7. Bring a good book & plan to spend some time on the wonderful beaches surrounding the house.

8. Get to know the islanders. They are your best source of information, and are very friendly. Go into town and hang out!

9. Rent a boat for at least a couple days. The best way to explore all the outer cays and see the island is by boat.

10. Expect to RELAX. There are plenty of restaurants and bars, but this island is not for someone looking for wild night life (unless you care to create your own). No casinos, very few cars and no traffic jams!!

11. email Luke & Sarah is you have the need for a babysitter and enjoy a night out without kids!
